Vintage telephones normally can be put right into service again at your house.
On of the misnomers regarding telephones is that rotary dial telephones no longer work on modern telephone lines. It's just not true. In fact if you look hard at your telephone bill you are likely to find a rotary service line (with no additional charges associated with it).
Another misconception is that vintage telephones need rewiring since the old plugs just don't fit into your wall. While this is certainly easily done if you want a modern plug end, Radio shack and others still stock simple plug adapters for under $5 that provide the modern end without any rewiring at all.
Many use their vintage rotary telephones as extension phones making the dialing a non-requirement. Just wait until someone under 15 sees your cool collectible phone....they don't know how it works!
Telephones are one of the many Collectibles that you can use today, you should!
